Special Guest: Alex Carreras

Hi all,

I'm out visiting Jen Wright today talk about Re-Submission. You can find us here.
In the meantime, I'm handing over my place to a special guest. He is a multi-published author with Siren-BookStrand. His inspirations come from men with cocky attitudes and sultry smiles. The image boards he creates for the visuals to his books are worth a story of their own. He loves Spain, motorbikes and vampires. Do I need to say more? Ladies and Gentlemen, please give a warm welcome to Mr. Alex Carreras

Hi Alex,

Thanks so much for being my guest today. Sit down, grab a drink and relax. We'll start with some easy questions - The business ones

Please give us a short introduction about yourself :
A: I write from Sarasota, Florida where it is always a bright and sunny day, and where men are always at the beach. Great for inspiration.

What genre(s) do you write in and why?
A: I am published only in Male/Male. Early on in my writing career I was told to write what you know, so I did.

Tell us about your latest release
A: Xander’s Reluctant Mate is the fourth in the Aragon Series based in the Spanish city of Zaragoza, one of my favourite places on Earth. Xander is an ex-mercenary from Africa fighting alongside his brother, Leandro to keep the good city of Zaragoza out of the hands of the Romani, a Romanian clan hell-bent on overtaking the city. Xander happens across Marcos - an addict attempting to come clean - one late night while looking to feed but instead of draining him of his blood completely, he…..Well let’s just say there is hot sex and then the real trouble begins.

Do you need a special setting to write in or do you have a ceremony to get you in the mood? What does it look like?
A: I mostly write on my antique French desk that I appropriated from my partner, Scott. He doesn’t seem to mind but I don’t really remember asking if he does mind.

Describe your feelings when you learnt that your first book was accepted for publication
A: When I received the email stating that my novella, Summer Heat was accepted for publication, I got just a little bit light headed. After rereading the email at least five more times, the realization that my lifelong dream of being a published author was finally coming true. It was a great day indeed.

Where do you find inspiration?
A: That’s an easy question. The gym.

Your favourite drink and food when writing:
A: Wheat thins and chocolate, but not at the same time.

That was easy. Now let's make it a bit prickly - The nosy ones

How much of the real “you” is in your stories?
A: Unfortunately I don’t have the sex my characters do but their quirky personalities are definitely all me!

Have you ever had a crush on a fictional character? Who was it?
A: Any character portrayed by Jason Statham. Woof. (I'm with you, Alex. Mmmm... ~S)

What’s the silliest error in a book you’ve submitted?
A: Error? Error! I am error free!

The steamiest scene from your books:
A: I have plenty of steamy in my books. Plenty. But I think Summer Heat will get you hot within the first page. When I reread that story, I’m even surprised how erotic it is. God I love young farm boys.

Favourite comfort food?
A: British Pub food. We have a few pubs in the area owned by ex-pats that prefer the sun to the dark and moody days of the U.K.. Lovely food!

A person you admire
A: Hilary Clinton…..and Prince Harry.

Very nice. And now let's pace it up for the finale - The fast ones

Favourite colour? Blue

Favourite pet? All of them.

Coffee or tea? Coffee...I’m American. We can’t help it.

Quickie or candles? Both

Hunky or chunky? Quickie with the Hunky and Candles with the Chunky.

Walk in the park or chat over cocktails? Walk in the park and major snogging behind the bushes.

Thanks so much, Alex. Now that I have squeezed you for personal information, allow me to present your book, which just happens to release today:

[Siren Allure ManLove: Erotic Alternative Interracial Paranormal Romance, M/M, vampires, HEA]
Xander Jakande is an ex-mercenary trying to redeem his dark past by joining his twin brother, Leandro, and the rest of the Fraternidad in the fight against the evil Romani. He hopes to find a mate in the process. Marcos Morales is an ex-addict in need of an attitude adjustment who’s trying to carve out a future…alone.
As Xander searches the nighttime streets in search of blood, he comes upon Marcos. Although the attraction is undeniable, both have very hard heads.
Will Xander tame the reluctant Marcos, claiming him as his mate for eternity? Or will Marcos retaliate by killing the overbearing vampire for changing him into a vampire against his will, although Xander is already technically dead?
In the midst of a vampire war in the city of Zaragoza, Spain, anything can happen between skirmishes and late-night feedings, even finding true love.

Story Excerpt:
Xander Jakande knew it was time to feed. His gut ached, and his muscles cried for sustenance, but his mind screamed its reluctance.
He doubled over and reached out in search of anything that would help him from toppling onto the cold, dark, shadowy street. Finding a wall, he steadied himself by taking in a few deep breaths.
Not too much longer.
An elderly woman approached dressed in black from head to foot, her walk nothing but a shuffle. “Señor, are you all right? Can I get you help?” she called in Spanish.
Telling himself to stand up straight, he nodded and forced a smile. “I am fine, señora. Just a little too much wine with my dinner. I’m not much of a drinker.” His credible excuse sounded more like an apology.
“Are you certain?” She stopped and ran a dubious eye over Xander, her head held high, alert and aware.
“No worries.” He dared a step, dropped his hand, then took another. “Thanks for your concern, but it is me that should be concerned for you. It’s too late for a woman of your age to be out walking these streets. Go home and lock your doors.”
“Have no concern for me, young man. I have lived on this street my entire life and know every crack and crevice.” The woman arched a slim, silver brow. “And if I was to die tonight on this very street, I would meet my maker with a clear conscience. Would you?”
I am already dead.
Xander released a chuckle. “I would indeed, señora. I would indeed,” he repeated. “Good night then.” He walked past the old woman, sensing her watery, gray eyes watching him. Wondering.
But why can’t I read her thoughts?
It had started slowly at first, one person out of every fifty or so, then with more frequency.
Since turning into a vampire, the gift of reading thoughts came to him quickly before any of his otherworldly powers. But now, he struggled, especially before feeding. Unlike many other vampires, he would only drink from those who wanted to die, mostly addicts wondering if their last injection would be the one to release them from their horrid and desperate existence. He’d never wanted to kill a person in their prime, healthy, happy, and strong, although his less moral cohorts boasted of their sweetness, sustaining them longer and making them even more powerful. Xander wouldn’t do it because he had been killed in his prime. But it was too late to rehash the past. Beside, he’d done that enough, lately.
Unable to read the minds of those he hunted made feeding a little…tricky. He couldn’t listen for their unrelenting pleas for death, their pathetic cries begging for rest. He could only guess.
Sure it was easy to tell who the junkies were. Their empty eyes, zombielike gait, shallow breaths reeking of sick and disease were the more common telltale signs. But the insecurity of killing someone, murdering them for his insatiable need to feed was too much. Xander had killed in cold blood before, more for price than pleasure. But that had stopped. He was going straight. He couldn’t be that anymore. He wanted to be like his brother, Leandro, and the other members of the Fraternidadfrom here on out. He vowed he would be a good, kind, but still vengeful vampire, fighting to keep their city of Zaragoza, Spain safe from vampires much like he’d been.
“Had been,” he mumbled under his breath, fighting the urge to vomit. “No more.”
Stumbling, he regained his footing before brushing into a young man holding an unlit cigarette between the fingers of his right hand. “You have a light?” the young man asked, his voice flat and lifeless.
Xander lifted his head and stared into two endless pools of blue. The color of the young man’s eyes was foreign and unfamiliar, but the look of death that surrounded his pitch-black pupils was not.
Time to drink.
The young man lifted the cigarette to his lips and mimed the act of smoking. “Do you have a light?” he questioned, this time speaking more loudly than before and slower, as if Xander couldn’t understand what he was asking or didn’t speak his language.
“Haven’t you heard?” Xander returned. “Smoking kills.”
The young man dropped his hand to his side. “So I’ll take that as a no then?”
Xander nodded, trying his best to read his thoughts. Nothing. He was blank. No messages. Not a damn thing.
Standing this closely to the young man, his slim, muscular body, with the thick, ropey veins jutting from his neck and forearms, screamed to be tasted. But I have to be sure, Xander thought. Or he would be no better than his mercenary brothers and the Romani, the ancient Romanian clan that was trying to overtake the city, turning it into their own personal feeding ground and slave market.
He had gone in front of the Fraternidad, with the help of his brother, Leandro, and his lover, Jose, practically begging them to allow him to join in on their fight. A few members proved reluctant due to his suspicious past, but Emerico Espiritu, Leandro’s closest confidante, placed his own reputation on the line asking them to give Xander a chance, a chance he desperately needed if he wanted to continue repairing his fractured relationship with his brother and wash away his past sins. He wanted those things and more, more than his immortal life itself.
“Marcos,” the young man offered, shifting his weight from hip to hip and running a hand through his thick, raven-black mass of hair in need of a wash. “I don’t believe I’ve seen you on this street before.”
“I’m new to Zaragoza. Haven’t been here that long.”
“Are you lost? Because you seem to be a little…disoriented?” Marcos asked, his gaze unrelenting. “Or are you looking?”
“What would I be looking for this time of night on this street?”
“Anything and everything, if you looked hard enough.”
“Is that what you’re doing?” Xander’s cock started to rise and strained against his underwear.
“Me? I’m just looking for a light.” He paused and licked along his bottom lip. “But if you have any suggestions, I might be persuaded to change my mind.”
ADULT EXCERPT
Stepping in, Xander cupped Marcos’s face into his hands. The stubble along his jaw pricked the skin of his palms. He inhaled his sweet and intoxicating scent. The smell of lust slammed into his brain. “You are beautiful,” he growled, his lips only inches from Marcos’s. “Do you know that?”
“You don’t have to do that.”
“Do what?”
“Say nice things. I want you to fuck me so you don’t have to flatter me anymore.”
“You don’t like hearing that you are beautiful?”
Marcos shrugged, but his eyes gave away nothing. He reached down and unbuttoned and unzipped his pants, allowing them to fall and pool around his ankles. “What do you think about this?” He swatted at his rigid cock curving upward. “It thinks you’re beautiful.”
Xander slid his hands slowly down Marcos’s body, his warmth and hardness driving Xander mad.
He leaned in and kissed Marcos fully on the mouth, hungry for a taste. He pushed past his lips, forcing his tongue deep into his throat, wet and slick. Xander felt a shudder rip through his body, the taste of Marcos’s full lips better than he had imagined. A long-dormant moan escaped from within him as Marcos licked back, tangling tongues. Xander pushed his tongue in deeper when he filled his fist with Marcos’s swollen cock. He pumped its length. A sharp pain stabbed Xander in the gut, and his head spun, his need to feed overtaking every cell. He separated and gasped for air.
“Are you sure you are okay?” Marcos asked. “Believe me, I don’t care what drug you’re on but I don’t want you dying on me. The last thing I need is a fucking cadaver on my hands.”
Xander grabbed Marcos by the meat of his arms and spun him forcefully. “I don’t do drugs, unlike you.” Marcos stumbled and landed with his face and chest flush against a wall. “All I need is that tight ass of yours to make me better.”
Marcos stretched his arms over his head, angling against the wall. He kicked a leg free from his pants and widened his stance. “Here it is then. Take it. Fuck me like there’s no tomorrow.”
There will be no tomorrow for you.
Xander fell to his knees and shoved Marcos’s T-shirt up and out of the way. He grabbed at his small but taut ass cheeks and forced them apart, exposing a perfect pink bud surrounded by the finest of blond hair, a stark contrast from the rest of the raven-colored hair on his body. “This is what will solve my problems,” he mumbled under his breath before diving his tongue into the soft and tasty flesh that danced under his lingual touch. Marcos let out a whimper as he pushed back, forcing his ass against Xander’s mouth.
“Yeah, baby, work me over with that tongue. Show no mercy.”
Xander didn’t intend to.
He pushed in harder and deeper, nuzzling and chewing at the delicate bud. It had been way too long since he tasted ass this delectable. He reached between Marcos’s thighs and grabbed at his balls. They were low and heavy, full of the young man’s thick juice. He cupped them into his fist, feeling their weight as he continued to ravage Marcos’s hole. Xander squeezed the silken sac.
Marcos threw back his head and arched his spine, releasing a desperate cry. “That…feels…good,” he choked out between sobs. “More.”
Xander squeezed and stroked with both hands, impressed by Marcos’s thickness and girth. Normally the drug addicts Xander had been with couldn’t hold an erection this long and strong, but for whatever reason, more than likely a strong constitution, this addict could. He rode his fists up and down feeling the slick juices beginning to ooze from Marcos’s slit, lubricating Xander’s palm. He couldn’t take it anymore. Xander had to have him.
In a flash, Xander scrambled to his feet and ripped himself free of his jeans, shoving them down around his ankles along with his underwear. He spat on his hand and slicked his cock, then spat again, but this time transferred the natural lubrication to Marcos’s awaiting, hot manhole. Desperate to take Marcos, he found his target and pushed his entire length deep into his silken tunnel with one quick and powerful thrust. Marcos groaned and whimpered, pressing harder into the wall. “That’s the way to do it.” He spread his legs, allowing Xander more access. “Fuck me. Show me what I dream about.”
