Blog Tour: Staying in... Love

Hi all,

Welcome to the latest stop of my blog tour. As you see, I'm on my own blog today. It's a special day for me, but before I tell you why, I'd like to take a moment and look at a common trope of my books  and romance books in general. The infamous insta-love aka love at first sight.

I remember a reader saying that it's just not realistic that people fall in love at first sight. Well... Isn't it? How come it has become such a cliche then and isn't there some truth in every cliche? For me, there definitely is truth in insta-love. Sometimes a person enters my life and the second I meet them I just know they are going to be special to me. It's happened with all of my best friends and yes, the same has happened with my SO. We met at work, at some time in 2003. I can't remember what day it was, but I recall the moment I first saw him with astonishing clarity and it was such a cliche. I walked into the room, he stood at his desk, turned around, looked at me and wham! There it was, this peculiar feeling. I didn't just think but I knew that he would have a special place in my life. Well, to be honest, nothing much happened after that. We were both in relationships with someone else, so for about two years after that we fought tooth and claw as colleagues until one day, we were both single again and realised that there was a lot more between us. Things happened fast after that and today it's been six years since we've taken the plunge and exchanged rings.

A lot has happened during those six years (seven since we got together). We've had good, bad, and life-changing moments. We've made love and we've made war. On some levels, we're a perfect match, on others we will never find a common factor but one thing has always been true - he's a great friend. a loyal partner and a wonderful person who holds a very special place in my life and my heart.

So, while I'm taking the rest of the day off for some time with my man, you are welcome to party without me. Feel free to take a look around my blog, maybe grab a book or visit my other tour stops, whatever makes you happy.

This post is part of my blog tour, so you can comment on this thread to enter the giveaway (details below).

  1. Hey Sage,

Had to comment because that was beautiful.

I had the same thing with my husband except we met in high school. No one believed us, not just because we were so young, but because it was love at first sight. Apparently that doesn't happen. 11yrs later( almost 8yrs of marriage), we proved them wrong, too.

Not always perfect, but perfect for us.

    Thank you for sharing.

    1. Thanks for sharing this, Jess. Yeah, It's funny because I used to be the one who would say better give it some time to be sure, but by now I have the courage to trust my heart. When it's right it's right and you'll never know what could be unless you try it

  2. I am so happy that you shared your story with us. It helps us, the readers, get to know the real Sage Marlowe. As you know, I have a similar story that happened most recently. Meeting Martin on-line on March 14th of this year has changed my life. It was definitely love-at-first-type! I don't honestly know what happeened, but whatever it was it was sudden and total. I can't wait to begin reading about your characters. Good luck with all you do, Sage. And again, thank you.

    1. Thank you, Susan. I know your story is one of those that makes the sensible (boring...) part of myself cringe, but hey, you only live once and when your heart knows it's the right thing for you, then by all means, go for it. I honestly admire you for taking that step, I think it takes a LOT of courage.
All the best to the two of you!

  4. The idea that love and first sight can and does happen keeps hope alive! It seems unlikely, but who can deny all the evidence? Thank you for sharing your proof,

    1. Hi Urb,

Well, I think being told by others that love at first sight doesn't exist and blahblahblah is what makes people lose hope and teaches them not to trust their own feelings, or just plainly scares them off a relationship that might just have become their very own happily ever after. We should encourage people to trust their hearts.

      All the best,

      Sage

  6. I believe that love at first sight does exist for a few people, but not as often as fictional stories make it out to happen. That's why for me it's gotten cliche. It's an over used idea. Saying that, I've met people where I have had that instant gut feeling of knowing they would be part of my life and I've also had no such feeling with most others. It's a rare thing, but it does exist.
